Rental Options

     Access to Mount Totumas Cloud Forest is via a 4WD road. We are located 20km from Volcan. For guests who do not have their own 4WD vehicle, we provide transportation from David or Volcan. See Planning below. Visitors and groups have a choice between renting exclusively The Homestead and/or The Cabin. Both accommodations sleep up to 7 guests with a current maximum occupancy of 14. In addition, we continue to rent out rooms in The Homestead to individuals and smaller groups who do not mind sharing the kitchen and living room facilities with other guests.
     All of our accommodations have hot water, electricity and Internet service thanks to our own private micro hydro plant. Spacious rooms and fully equipped kitchens provide guests with all the required comforts, privacy and room to spread out. Covered decks and patios provide magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and hummingbird feeders are active from dawn to dusk with up to 13 species of hummingbirds.

Planning

We offer transportation service from Volcan or David and help you coordinate grocery shopping and other supplies before bringing you to Mount Totumas Cloud Forest. For visitors with their own transportation please note that a high clearance 4WD vehicle is required to reach Mount Totumas Cloud Forest. Meals are offered to guests and groups on request. In preparation for your visit we provide logistical support to help coordinate your arrival and departure and connections to your next destination.

Off the Grid

Mount Totumas Cloud Forest is off the grid. Electricity, hot water, and Internet service are available from our micro hydro electric plant that guarantees abundant renewable clean energy. Seven hundred feet of 8-inch PVC pipe taps the water from a perennial mountain stream that provides enough head pressure year round to generate over 8 kilowatts of electricity with our pelton wheel turbine and AC generator. This flow through system requires no dam and returns the water to the stream with minimal impact to the stream ecology.
